AK Health and Social Services

AK Health and Social Services is a non-profit community organization that caters to the needs of immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and BIPOC communities in Lewiston and Auburn, Maine. It was founded by Abdikhadar Shire, a former refugee and immigrant, to address the specific challenges faced by New Mainers. Our approach involves conducting needs assessments to pinpoint community issues and developing tailored programs to help resolve them.

Masjid Salaam Mosque

Masjid Salaam is a non-profit, non-political, and non-denominational religious organization that has been serving the Lewiston and Auburn, Maine communities for many years. Located at 240 Bartlett St, the mosque serves as a spiritual space for community members of the Islamic faith who visit five times a day to observe their daily prayers. Masjid Salaam also provides a range of services, including family services such as marriages, divorces, and funerals, as well as educational programs for children and young adults, including substance abuse training and seminars. The mosque's faith leaders work in collaboration with other community-based organizations to promote the health and well-being of all community members. Additionally, Masjid Salaam has a non-discriminatory policy and is open to visitors of all faiths, as long as the rules and privacy of the mosque are respected.

Her Safety Net

Her Safety Net is a non-profit community organization established to advocate for women of all ages, particularly those from marginalized and disadvantaged communities, including immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color). While our primary objective is to empower and support women, we also prioritize the health and welfare of all marginalized communities.

LA Family Support Services

LA Family Support Services is a non-profit organization that aims to provide social advocacy and establish connections between individuals and the community based on their intrinsic needs. Our organization is dedicated to collaborating with various community resources and leveraging their valuable resources to create opportunities for self-emancipation. We strive to serve the interests of both immigrants and local communities by bridging gaps in mutual understanding, fostering social justice and community connection. Our goal is to promote mutual understanding and growth, leading to a sense of acceptance, value and belonging for those we serve.
